I-131 Radioiodine Therapy – 30 mCi
Standard-dose radioactive iodine for post-surgical thyroid remnant ablation in low-risk differentiated thyroid cancer.
Clinical Overview & Mechanism
Radioiodine ablation with 30 mCi of I-131 is the international standard of care following total or near-total thyroidectomy for low-risk papillary or follicular thyroid carcinoma. This therapy destroys microscopic remnant thyroid tissue left after surgery, facilitates accurate post-treatment staging scans, and enables sensitive long-term follow-up using blood Thyroglobulin (Tg) tracking.
Clinical Indications & Use
Post-thyroidectomy ablation for low-risk T1/T2 papillary thyroid microcarcinoma.
Minimally invasive follicular carcinoma following total surgical resection.
Elimination of residual microscopic thyroid bed tissue to streamline Tg tumor marker surveillance.
Enables high-sensitivity post-treatment whole-body diagnostic scanning.
Step-by-step therapy roadmap.
